Hotel Description
|
Famous for its beautiful Georgian architecture, Bath is the only city in England to be classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The hotel was designed by the famous engineer and architect, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, in the 19th century. Brunel deliberately mirrored the city’s architecture in the hotel’s grand Georgian-style exterior.
The hotel has been providing traditional British hospitality for over 150 years and today it offers comfortable, cosy accommodation, making it the ideal base for a short city break.
The owners are committed to continually improving both the physical aspects of the hotel and the standards of service, food and hospitality to ensure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable visit.Brunel, the famous English architect of the time, designed the hotel for the arrival of the railway in Victorian times. The Royal prefix was bestowed upon the hotel as a reminder of Queen Victoria's visit to the city of Bath. The hotel was originally named the Royal Station Hotel and commenced trading in 1846. In 1852, because of the growing influence of rail travel and the hotel’s close proximity to the station, an upper-level footbridge was built, directly linking the first floor of the hotel w ith the station platforms for the convenience of hotel guests. This footbridge remained until 1936.
The Royal has changed ownership a number of times during its 150-year history and in March 1995, The PR Inns partnership acquired the business. PR is a small private company, wholly owned by its two partners who are highly experienced hoteliers and restaurateurs. |

Hotel Reviews
"Only significant problem was the unwelcoming check-in. Smaller problems were broken light-bulb, and problems with TV remote control.Breakfast was good, and waiting staff were very efficient."
